FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. What happens if my child cannot attend a class?

In the case of an absence, students may be eligible to do a make-up class to work on the topic they missed. Please be advised, that students will be eligible for a make-up class only with a minimum 24+ hour notice (via phone call or email). We do not offer any credits/refunds for notices given less than 24 hours before the class, or for absences without any notice at all.

*Please, note that due to the nature and structure of some of our courses, we may not be able to offer a make-up lesson. If this is the case, the amounts paid are non-refundable.

You can see the list of courses eligible for a make-up class here:

*Weather conditions - please, note, that weather conditions do not fall under our cancellation policies, unless Inventor STEM School cancels the classes, any lessons missed due to weather conditions are non-refundable.

*Illness – No refunds will be given for classes missed due to illness

Q. If my child misses a class, can they take their makeup lesson in another course?

No. Since our classes are designed to build on previous material, your child will gain the most benefit by completing all of them. If your child misses a lesson, a makeup class may be scheduled so that they can catch up on the material they missed during that lesson.

Q. What happens if my child doesn’t want to commit to the same course for a whole year, semester or if the course becomes too easy/difficult during the semester?

We regularly assess children to ensure they are appropriately placed in our courses. Our goal is to provide a challenging yet manageable experience where they can learn effectively. If a child is deemed ready for the next level, we will offer that opportunity. If a change in the child's schedule or interests occur, we can assist in finding another course or switching to a different group, keeping in mind their teacher’s recommendation. In cases where no suitable options can be found, we may cancel the remainder of the semester and credit the unused amount to your family account.

Q. Will the children be sharing their Lego sets?

Younger children (3-7 years old) will be given their own individual Lego sets. STEM Middle and STEM Senior age groups (7-16 years old) will be working in pairs for their robotics & architecture classes.

Q. What is your Cancellation Policy?

If the entire purchase order (whether by block/module or year) is canceled with a two week notice (14 days or more before the first class), Inventor STEM School will issue a full refund of the purchase price, minus the processing and cancellation fees. This fee is not paid to the school but rather to the payment processing platform and is a fee of approximately 3-5%. For cancellations made less than 2 weeks (14 days) from the first class, Inventor STEM School will transfer the full amount to the family credit account. The family credit can be used for future evening or weekend after school programs or camps.

Q. Does my child have to have robotics experience?

No, your child does not need to have any prior robotics experience to enroll in our classes! Our staff is equipped to assess and determine the appropriate level that would best suit your child's needs. Our curriculum is designed to introduce students to the basics of robotics in a fun and engaging way, while also providing them with the tools they need to build more advanced projects as they progress.

Q. Does your school offer drop-ins?

Our program operates similarly to a school, with year long courses. Our classes are structured to be progressive, building upon previous lessons as the semester progresses. We do not offer drop-in classes to ensure students receive a comprehensive and cohesive learning experience throughout the entire semester.

Q. What is the difference between a “Block” purchase and a “Semester” purchase?

"Block" and "Semester" are two distinct payment options. By choosing the "Block" option, you agree to pay for the semester in monthly installments while assuming your child will stay enrolled for the entire duration. On the other hand, if you choose the "Semester" option, you are paying for the entire semester at once.

Q. Are the classes hard?

While our classes have an educational component, the top priority is ensuring that our students have fun!

Q. How do I choose the proper course/level amongst all the options?

We provide a one time free trial lesson to determine if your child is in the appropriate course and level. During the trial, your child will have the opportunity to participate in a full-length class in which our teachers can observe and assess, then based on the teacher’s assessment, we will recommend the most suitable course and level for your child.
